Difficult topic handled well for children.

Animal abuse and neglect is a difficult topic to write about but especially when a book is designed for children. As a retired first grade teacher, I found that author Toni Helen did a excellent job of writing this story in a very tactful manner and for a child's understanding. The overwhelming theme was not on the abuse but the recovery and healing of this beautiful creature. I applaud her writing and look forward to future stories of the horses at the Last Stop Horse Rescue! Highly recommend!

A Miracle!

I just received the book 'Last Stop Horse Rescue saves Benny' in the mail... Of course I had to read it the minute I opened the package....
WOW ... I know the story but it was like I was hearing it for the first time.
I found myself crying for Benny ...praying he would make it. Then I let out a loud "YES YES YES" when he was up standing on his own!!
Toni put me right there with Benny. I felt every emotion as if it was happening.
This book, this story, this miracle was written perfectly. Toni has an amazing gift of touching our hearts and souls with every sentence she writes.

A beautiful children's adaptation about "Benny" who was rescued after suffering one of the most severe cases of animal cruelty ever seen. This book is written in a way for children to enjoy Benny's story without the graphic details. It includes actual photos of Benny the horse and delivers a powerful message of hope, faith, and inspiration. People of all ages will love this book!

Very Appealing art Book with adorable drawings

Mark is a super talented cartoonist with an obvious love of the classic Saturday Morning shows....especially Hanna-Barbera.

Though the subject matter here is intended for the very young, I have to recommend this book to anyone as a gorgeous collection of very appealing, charming-as all-get-out drawings that always bring a smile to my face. This is also a bit of an unintentional classroom in character design and appealing animal drawing in general.

Your little ones will enjoy the riddles too.

Fantastic fun for the kids!

Fantastic fun for the kids. As a kid I always loved riddles, especially if they made my parents groan. This book is full of fun riddles that kids will memorize and amuse their friends with. However the hightlight of the book is Christiansen's fantastic artwork. Each page is a charming, Hanna-Barberra style cartoon unto itself. This book is definitely a steal for parents who want something fun to share with their early readers!

Delightful. A Must Read. We all like a good story.

This delightful and heartwarming story is one you will want to read along with your child or teen. It is a very pleasant story without condescension, not written in a way that would talk down to a youngster. The author carefully defines a plot line that gently crescends and arcs toward the pivotal moment, sure to tug at every heart-string. Care was made to pen a thrilling climax that may be captured for young readers to understand, yet very compelling for the older readers too. There is an inherent goodness underscoring the tale. If virtue is an important trait for your child, this book provides plenty of exposure towards it and reflection thereof.

I was challenged by this intriguing story!

The minute I read about the release of this short story, I couldn't wait to read it! The author of this book, Cindee Martin Morgan, has masterfully combined together so many issues and concepts that a baby boomer like me, and a Christian, have held so dear, combining the deeply painful moral crisis of abortion and its destruction in one family and the supernatural intervention by God to solve it! Mrs. Martin Morgan has a ready audience in today's culture, informed by scientific, post-Einsteinian theory of relativity and the very real, scientifically plausible possibility of time travel! But that it falls short of actually becoming a sci-fi thriller about time travel and the delicious grappling of the paradoxes that comes with such stories, and which sci-fi fans like me just relish, it is more than enough that, in Cindee's story, the agent of the time travel trip is none other than the God of the Bible and of Judeo-Christianity, which Jews and Christians both hold as the Creator of time and space, and transcendent over both! The main character of the story, a young girl, Suri, is haunted by visions of a boy who constantly pleads with her to rescue him, hence the title. She soon finds out that this is providential, and she is the one chosen to attend to this daunting task, and she must be transported back in time by God and accompanied by an angel to prevent the evil that has befallen the unfortunate boy! The drama only increases with each turn of the page and the way this story has really challenged me personally is in the realization of how relevant time is, and how what we do in time and space really do have consequences! Eternal consequences! Mrs. Martin Morgan will not disappoint you here either, that is, what I just said about the delicious ironies in stories of time travel, and the laws of causation changing what has come to pass to something much different, if only we *could* go back and do so! And here is where causation and human responsibility meet. All our choices are moral, and they are causation in themselves. The choices of Suri's mother had affects, painful affects, not only for herself, but for everyone in her life, and now, Suri is granted a miracle by the God of time itself to go back and have the chance to impact her mom- by some choices she will make herself! And I'm willing to bet that no one can guess how things are indeed changed as Suri takes up the angel's challenge in the attempt to rescue a desperate little boy! The story is so well-written and I guarantee, it will keep the reader on edge, until the final, surprising climax that will leave you thinking much deeper about the real solution to all of humanity's moral crises! God may not allow us to go back in time ourselves to change events, but this book succeeds in reminding us that "RIGHT NOW COUNTS FOREVER!" and it is precisely here that I was challenged, to speak out, here and now, and leave the results to God. As the famous addage goes, "This life will soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last!" We can't get this book into too many hands of the targeted audience of young readers, and I would even argue that it's a profound read for all ages! I really hope it becomes a movie and that would be an amazing work, to depict on screen what is for now left to the imagination of readers!

It's Super Cute and I Love It.

Whether you are familiar with Rodrigo’s work or are just looking for something new I think you’ll find an enjoyable read here. I love this book. It is extremely entertaining and often laugh out loud funny.

Semi-spoilery synopsis:

Monique is an ordinary young girl who gets wrapped up in helping a group of “rabbits” find a new home in a magical land. The other characters include Greenest Rabbit–a serious frog with bunny ears on, a gifted storyteller (though perhaps a bit dense) named Richest Rabbit, and a beautiful bird in the middle of a spiritual pilgrimage named Lentil. The book is filled with short stories, which are often used as currency in this world in exchange for food or safe passage (or to escape being eaten).

I highly recommend this book, it's great for readers of all ages.

Spoilers:

While all the stories are rich and interesting, my favorite story is Greenest’s Story about a Bird, a Frog, and Some Other Guys. I really love all the characters Rodrigo introduced in that one, and how their unique talents lead them to their special places.

I also super love Three Mysterious and Ancient Things, because Koala Jones is so cute when he wants to wear a pink cape.

This is what storytelling is...

I've been following Rodrigo Lopez's work since I first discovered the Major Spoilers Podcast network. I was very excited to hear that he wrote an all-ages book (I just can't call this one a "children's book").

I received my copy on Friday and finished it over the weekend. My 10-year old daughter has started it now as well.

"Tallest Rabbit" is one part "Alice's Adventures In Wonderland," one part "Arabian Nights," one part tales of Anansi, and all Rodrigo Lopez. These are fun stories that string together into a wonderful narrative with great characters (and character). Rodrigo's voice rings out throughout every story and it's a great voice. Anyone familiar with his work with the various Major Spoilers podcasts will understand what I mean.

The narrative itself flows less like the written word and more like conversation (as all good books about storytelling should), which begs the questions, when do we get an audiobook?

The Tale of Tallest Rabbit by Rodrigo Lopez-

This charming tale of a brilliant little girl has joy inscribed on every page. From the adorable (if somewhat dense) rabbits to the devout followers of the Thunderbird, the realm that Monique finds herself in is steeped in deep, but incredibly digestible, lore. There are plenty of great lessons to be had from this book. In the fantasy world of TOTR, stories count as currency. It is the through the exchange of stories that the world becomes so very fleshed out in a remarkably short span of time. These stories not only tell a lot about the world, but also a lot about the storyteller. Lessons of cultural sensitivity, respect for religions that are not your own, lending aid wherever you can, and even noble sacrifice are explored. Being able to tackle one of those matters in a manner that is delightful and enrapturing to kids and adults alike would be impressive, but Rodrigo Lopez manages to weave in all of this, some of it obviously, much of it subtly. Monique is polite, intelligent, and an overall exemplary role model for children. For adults, I recommend this book as a charming retreat into youthful fantasies. For children, it teaches lessons that are becoming more important in the world, promoting kindness and generosity to all, despite their differences. And the best bit is, I am clearing missing some themes. There are so many little stories, little nuggets of lore, that there is a lot for a parent and child to discuss at bedtime. Also, if someone could find a way to make a plushy of Greenest Rabbit for me, that would be great.

I've read better.

It was a SW story that seemed to be heading in one direction then tried ultimately in the final chapter to establish an origin for one famous SW character and another titular figure who had a brief mention in the prequels and a spectacular origin story in a book by another author. Suffice it to say - at best this story passed the time but like a fast food meal - it was neither appetizing nor particularly memorable. It simply "filled a hole"

Worthy of being part of the Star Wars franchise.

As a pre-prequel it fills in the era prior to Darth Plagius book. Great action honest Jedi flaws, and believe me they are flawed. Only the Ja'dai 10,000 Years prior did force disorder truly understood the force. The Jedi and Sith are abominations and thus the continually conflict of two side over one, yes one force.

Excellent! One of the Best! Here’s my Summary and Review-

This book shows you how happiness and productivity go hand in hand. It is broken up into 6 decent sized but not overwhelmingly long chapters. The author makes her case by showing how new research (and also some old research) has overturned myths about productivity and success. Here are a few samples of the myths she confronts-

Myth 1: You must work nonstop, in an all work no play life in order to be successful. The author refers to this as being in “overdrive”. In its place she gives the evidence that shows how taking breaks, having hobbies, and other forms of relaxation increase your productivity in the long haul.

Myth 2: In order to succeed, you must be your own worst critic. This myth serves as a backdrop against chapter 5, where the author makes the case for self-compassion as a profound tool to get more done, be happier, and even live longer.

These are good examples of the overall theme of the book- you don’t have to kill yourself and be miserable today, in order to be happy tomorrow or to fulfill your dreams. That living a life that makes you happy in the present can also lead to greater productivity and long-term success is a bold claim, but the case is made with such strength you have to accept it. This is one of the most thoroughly documented and research based self-help books I’ve ever read. After the final chapter, the next 30 pages are lists of all the research, interviews, and other academic books she cites for each of the 6 chapters. For this, and for the fact that this is a thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening read, I just have to give this book my highest recommendations. I’ve been studying success and productivity systems for 20 years, and this book is top of the line. It has really helped round out my perspective and knowledge about getting ahead in life.

A great practical resource for the over-driven and exhausted

This book is extremely well-written. Dr. Seppala successfully hits the mark on all three criteria of a timeless self-help book, namely (a) clear and easy to read, (b) containing practical, easy to follow advice (e.g., how powerful a wellness tool something as simple as deep, slow breathing can be), and (c) solid scientific evidence to back up all the advice. What makes this book truly remarkable is how Dr. Seppala packs in a treasure trove rigorous research while keeping the text consistently accessible and readable.

As an over-driven individual in a high pressure work environment, I go through cycles of really high energy, engagement in work, and productivity followed by cycles of collapse. Chapter 3, 'Managing Your Energy', has been extremely helpful to me in understanding why: apparently positive high intensity emotions such as enthusiasm have the same exhausting physiological impact as high intensity negative emotions like anger, so while high energy positive emotions are essential to happiness when they occur in small doses, chronic indulgence in them (something American society and professional cultures encourage and reward) is damaging to health. Chapter 3 has motivated me to very seriously rethink how I should manage my enthusiasm and engagement, traits I have always seen as unambiguously positive even though they contribute to regular periodic collapse. A second lesson in energy management the books discusses is the concept of 'satisficing', i.e., to maximize long-term happiness and productivity, one has to be judicious about which tasks to devote one's best effort to vs. which ones to hold back on and be just good enough. While I have known this conceptually, it was only after reading this book make a science-based case for it that I was able to hold back and do a merely good-enough job on a work project, something I have never been able to do before.

Another message that I implemented immediately in my life after reading the book is that of self-compassion. I was being asked to take on a project at work that was challenging to an unhealthy degree. I see myself as someone who, to my detriment, never backs away from a challenge, no matter how impossible. The emphasis on self-care and self-compassion in the book helped me listen to my intuition that the project was going to be injuriously stressful, and explain to my management very constructively but honestly what I needed to make the project realistic, and lo and behold, my management agreed!

A MUST READ!! I've already bought four more copies for friends!

Absolutely amazing book, 100% must read for any and everyone. Dr. Seppala's writing is beautifully thoughtful and straightforward, and describes ways to improve our path to happiness. Throughout the book Dr. Seppala talks about how as daily life pressures come up, our attempts to juggle and be ultra productive actually are counterproductive. My parents both read the book within two days and were absolutely blown away by the incredible honesty and insight found in this book. Dr. Seppala's research delves into real-world ways of achieving happiness in your daily life, and finding success in a healthy and more productive way. I highly recommend this book for all audiences, and I've already heard amazing feedback from friends and family who read the book as well!
