About the Author
Talia Aikens-Nuñez wanted to be a meteorologist, a politician and a lawyer. She never thought she would be a writer. It was the birth of her daughter that caused her to start writing. Raising a bilingual child inspired Talia to write lyrical children's books. These 'first experience' books introduce Spanish to children and parents too! Talia's family loves nature so much that she and her husband vowed that they will always try to live close to water. They live on a river in Connecticut with their kids. Bilingual Books for Early Readers - Escucha Means Listen

Escucha Means Listen is a bilingual children's picture book for early readers, approximately ages 3-5. Authored by Talia Aikens-Nuñez, Escucha Means Listen is simple and thoughtfully written. It's back and forth, English / Spanish transitions sound natural and are fun to repeat with young children as they learn. Both visual and auditory cues help early readers to remember new words and apply them to common situations in their daily lives.
Dina Ashraf Helmi masterfully illustrates this book with vibrant and intuitive drawings that link every new Spanish word to a real experience, making the learning process more fluid and natural.

Cute, fun and educational read for young ones!

I love the concept behind this cute little picture book! I personally think it is a great idea to expose children to as many cultures and languages as possible when they are young and still little sponges welcoming in knowledge. I also love nature and adored most of the sounds that the little girl heard:) The sprinkling of Spanish was just enough to expose little ears to a new tongue and teach a few fun words without overwhelming and the illustrations were extremely colorful and fun and lent a great air to each page as surroundings were explored and everything there was to hear was listened to. Overall a cute, fun and educational read for young ones! I could find no fault with the book except that I feel as with all picture books it would be much better received by a child in print than as an e-book!

A Great Way To Begin Learning Spanish

This is a great book for introducing children to a second language. It takes sounds that are familiar and presents the words for them in both English and Spanish. The pictures are bright and colorful, and the words on each page are minimal. The only thing that would have made it better would be a pronunciation guide for those who don't speak Spanish.I plan to share it with my five year old grandson, and am sure that he will have me reading it again and again.
