I was very pleased by high-quality appearance and content of the book

I've always been a big fan of Zoia Master's literary talent and was familiar with her writings, but never knew that she also writes for children. So, naturally, when I've learned about this book, I've become curious and have purchased it for my 8yo granddaughter, who happens to be an avid reader. I was very pleased by high-quality appearance and content of the book, which is well-written, beautifully illustrated and printed. And as of
my granddaughter… well, she just loved this book and practically gulped up! She could relate to its stories, characters and liked the illustrations, all of which we've spent some time discussing afterwards. Our family is bi-linqual, however, my granddaughter, who speaks both languages, reads in English only. But now, having there stories in both languages in the same book, got her very interested in improving her reading in Russian. As such, I think that this idea is a very clever way to stimulate kids from bi-linqual families to learn language of their ancestors, or to give kids from any ethnic background an incentive to learn Russian or another language for that matter. Needless to say, this book now has a prominent place on our bookshelf. I plan to read it to my younger granddaughter when she gets a little older. I also strongly recommend this book to other parents and grandparents… and it certainly belongs to school libraries.
And last but not least, I'd like to thank the author for such wonderful book and wish her very best in her creative pursuits!

this book is good in its stories and illustrations

All around, this book is good in its stories and illustrations. I got on Amazon for my grandchildren and plan to read it in both languages. I don't think in Philadelphia, book stores have something like this on sale. Also,this book is unique because there is NO bilingual English-Russian books for elementary school children in American bookstores or libraries. So, this book is very beneficial for kids who were born in the US in Russian speaking families, but want to become literate in the language of their parents. It also gives the parents and especially grandparents the opportunity to better communicate with the children for whom English became the first language. Basically, this book helps to initiate a dialog between generations.
Also, these stories might be an excellent source for English only speaking kids who want to learn Russian as a foreign language.
I strongly recommend this book for kids to enjoy, getting books back to their lives. Nella Turovets, Philadeiphia, PA.

Beautiful book with fun stories - great for elementary age kids

I got this book for my 6yo niece and she absolutely loved the stories. The book is well written, the stories are clear and easy to understand, and they are humorous without being forced like in other kids books I've read. Also, the illustrations are beautiful. Great book for elementary age kids. The English and Russian parts are printed on opposite sides of the book. So the first half of the book is in English, and the second half of the book is in Russian. You have to turn the book upside-down to switch between languages which I think is a clever way to structure it.
