The simple text and colorful illustrations work inharmony. For example: January's text, "Circle round, ready to roll. Addtwo sticks, a carrot and coal" is accompanied by an image of twochildren and a puppy building a snowman.
I currently live in a world of numbers, letters, colors and shapes.My almost-2-year-old is obsessed. We must say letters, count objects,assign colors and point out shapes. Every time we pass a road sign, Ihear the word "shape" from the backseat of our car. Upon furtherquestioning, said 2-year-old will either say the shape's name or tell me "no" until I recite the correct one. I feel like this "All Year Round"was made for her.
"All Year Round" offers a strong reinforcement of shapes whilediscovering seasons, too. Each page has numerous items to point out anddiscuss. Bold colors and cute characters make each page turn a delight.
While the publisher's suggested age range is 4-6, I'd definitely goyounger with this one. It's simple and fun and is the perfect way topique interest if it's not already there.

Eiko Ojala is a renowned illustrator and a graphic designer. He lives in Tallinn, Estonia. He draws everything by hand first, and then redraws everything digitally, creating every shadow and light himself. Eiko likes to study the forms of shapes and work closely with light and shadow. He keeps his illustrations minimal, letting the shapes and shadows speak. This is Eiko's first picture book.

Wonderful Book!

Susan Katz' books are a popular commodity among my family, and All Year Round is another example of a skilled writer using her talents to create something educational and fun for kids. The pairing of her words with Mr. Ojala's illustrations works like chocolate and peanut butter—that is, to say, perfectly! I hope this won't be the last book these two talented creatives do together. This will quickly become one of your kid's favorite books, and it's a joyful and easy read for the parents. Well done!

shapes, seasons and rhyming too

Another wonderful book by Susan B. Katz !!! I love the poetry that she writes, the rhythm of it, as it is being read, the content that is so basic to childhood. Being a teacher for 31 years and a grandmother too, I recognize the benefit of Ms Katz’s talent. This book teaches both seasons and shapes so graphically, allowing the listener and the reader to imagine all the variations and possibilities. I highly recommend ALL YEAR ROUND.

A fantastic read - all year round!

This book is perfect for preschool and young elementary kids. The rollicking rhyme and bright illustrations bring to life a great concept - the shapes you find in different seasons. A lovely addition to any picture book library!
