A most appealing story

A thoroughly charming series of vignettes about a time gone by in rural Nebraska. Young Ron Burke lives a house that lacks both plumbing and electricity but this is more than made up for by an overabundance of love from his parents, grandparents and his little dog Lassie. Ron goes to a one room schoolhouse, gets lost in the endless cornfields with his friend Dicky and nearly chokes on the dust as he beats rugs with his Aunt Peggy.
This is a great book for a child but also a very pleasant read for a nostalgic adult like myself. I was sorry to see this little book end and I'm looking forward to Kate's next installment of Ron's story.

Fun for the family

Blue River Boy is the first in a series of Ron Burke’s early boyhood reminiscences retold lovingly by his wife, Kate. These heartwarming tales of life and family in rural Nebraska in the 1940s are both informative and fun to read. Blue River Boy will be enjoyed by young readers as well as their nostalgia-loving parents and would be an excellent bedtime story book when read aloud by Mom or Dad.
