Tooth Fairy Stories For Girls & Boys is an adorable book containing three short stories for young children to learn about The Tooth Fairy and Fairy Dust. With appropriate age illustrations to help the young reader enjoy the story, Ginger H. Edwards does an amazing job.

Ideal characters match each story for children to remember the message to brush their teeth every morning and every night. A poem and a quiz conclude the stories.

I’m looking forward to reading Tooth Fairy Stories For Girls & Boys to my four in a half year old grandson. Confident he’ll love it as much as your young readers.

Absolutely charming and delightful. Full of wonderful illustrations, this book adds a new and magical perspective on not only the Tooth Fairy, but where Fairy Dust comes from. This story is wonderful for children of all ages. There's a cute and fun quiz at the end that will encourage all children to take good care of their teeth. I love the characters, the castle, Pearlie White and Dr. Wisdom Tooth. Really a lovely story for your children and grandchildren....boys and girls both. Enjoy!

The Legacy. Book One. The Shadow of The Unicorn by Suzanne de Montigny

Suzanne de Montigny has created a magical tale of unicorns and dinosaurs, who live in two valleys, and human beings, who settle near the unicorns.

The opening paragraphs drew me into the novel when Suzanne introduces father and son, Polaris, The Great Stallion, and Azaria. I admired the unicorns, Polaris and Azaria, wanted to know more about them and enter their spell-binding world,

The Legacy begins when a dinosaur spooked the mares and Saul, a dinosaur, sent an urgent message for the three herds of unicorns to leave their valley.

Suzanne’s descriptions throughout The Legacy are memorable. Azaria loved this part of the valley where they lived. The grass was tender here with sweet purple flowers that grew between grass blades. Close by a small brook meandered to the river. And, near the creek, stood the large banyan tree where they all met and cooled themselves on hot days, and then gathered to sleep at night.”

Polaris takes Azaria, and Azaria’s friend, Gaelan, to meet Saul, a herbivore, in the valley in which several species of dinosaurs live. Saul introduces the three unicorns to Marrissa and her son, a seer, “who tells strange tales and prophesies that the world will change….There will be a cloud over everything, a lot of animals will die but there’ll be new animals to, replace them, creatures that walk on two legs like carnivorous Rexus dinosaurs.” He also warns them about Ishmael.

It is important for the herds to stick together so that if any of them are wounded they can heal each other with the power of their magical horns.

After a fireball lands in the valley the sun disappears and the change predicted by the seer begins. As I read on my fascination with the world Suzanne de Montigny created grew.

Azaria is frightened by the change to his world but always remembers his mother’s words. “The bad times must end.”

Which traumatic events, I wondered, would take place when the worlds of Ishmael and the unicorns met each other?

Suzanne de Montigny has written a magical novel. I look forward to reading Shadow of the Unicorn, Book Two, The Deception.

A Well-written Fantasy

The Legacy, Shadow of the Unicorn
Suzanne de Montigny

As a children’s author myself, I was intrigued by Ms. de Montigny’s title. I enjoy both reading and writing fantasy, and I wasn’t disappointed in The Legacy, the first in the Shadow of the Unicorn series.

Ms. de Montigny creates believable characters and her descriptions are vivid and memorable. I loved getting to know Azaria, Polaris, and Gaelan, the main characters, all unicorns, in this story. Azaria’s interaction with the dinosaurs, Saul and Darius, gives us a glimpse into the need for cooperation between diverse species. The trials the dinosaurs face when humans learn of their existence is reminiscent of the wholesale slaughter of elephants for their ivory tusks.

The unicorns of the story are beautiful creatures inside and out with their shiny silver coats. Unfortunately, several of the humans are dark, greedy monsters and their grubby clothes and shabby existence portrays the darkness vividly.

This is a story of good against evil, of determination against overwhelming odds, and the importance of cooperation. This is a well-written book, and I highly recommend it for tweens, young adults, and adults who love a good fantasy tale.

Wonderful Book!

Susan Katz' books are a popular commodity among my family, and All Year Round is another example of a skilled writer using her talents to create something educational and fun for kids. The pairing of her words with Mr. Ojala's illustrations works like chocolate and peanut butter—that is, to say, perfectly! I hope this won't be the last book these two talented creatives do together. This will quickly become one of your kid's favorite books, and it's a joyful and easy read for the parents. Well done!

shapes, seasons and rhyming too

Another wonderful book by Susan B. Katz !!! I love the poetry that she writes, the rhythm of it, as it is being read, the content that is so basic to childhood. Being a teacher for 31 years and a grandmother too, I recognize the benefit of Ms Katz’s talent. This book teaches both seasons and shapes so graphically, allowing the listener and the reader to imagine all the variations and possibilities. I highly recommend ALL YEAR ROUND.

This book is perfect for preschool and young elementary kids. The rollicking rhyme and bright illustrations bring to life a great concept - the shapes you find in different seasons. A lovely addition to any picture book library!

A Clever Way to Learn to Read

One Sentence Storybooks: Bible Animals by Nancy I. Sanders is a wonderful way to introduce reading to children. In just four spreads, a powerful sentence based on a Bible story with an animal is repeated in chunks of words. These repetitive phrases are great to build fluency in children’s reading. The end of the books feature main words with illustrations, a simple truth to learn, a Bible verse, and a prayer. The very last page includes a list of things to do with the book such as point to something pink, or count a certain object, or find the words that have the same sound as the illustration. The books come as a set of ten, small sized for small hands. In this set, six of the stories are based on the Old Testament and four from the New Testament. Repeated reading will help your child learn the words. This is an excellent idea to help your child learn to read + learn the Bible.

Fae to the rescue 5 stars

H.D. Gordon is a new author to me and I was captivated by her storytelling. The Halfling is fast paced, mystery/suspense urban fantasy that takes you on a wild ride. It has magic, cool gadgets, super swoony men, a kickass heroine, smart and engaging sidekicks and best of all it also has a superhero.

Aria Fae is a seventeen year old, half human and half Fae, who has been banished to the human world. All she knew to be true is no more. Her mother is gone and so is her home. The Peace Brokers she has spent her young life serving for has exiled her, never to return home again. Never thinking how she will survive on her own.

As Aria struggles to accept her fate, she finds herself suddenly thrust into an alien world called, Grant City. She wants to desperately blend in, become the shadow, and hide from everyone so no one notices that she is different.

On her first day at school, she rescues Samantha Shy from getting beat up and forges a bond of true friendship in the midst of confusion and loneliness of this new destiny. Samantha takes Aria under her wings and shows her the ropes. Sam is a geeky, computer whiz. But deep down Sam hides an intense pain that was brought on by the loss of a loved one.

As the story develops, I loved how the author addresses Aria’s battle with depression, how she defined the disease. She portrayed Aria as a strong willed, young woman yet she did not shy away from showing Aria’s vulnerable side. As Aria struggles with what the future holds for her, she succeeds in acclimatizing herself to her new situation with the help of Sam and finally reveals the truth about her origin to her. Sam being Sam totally embraces Aria being half human and half Fae.

H.D. Gordon very subtly incorporate a touch of romance into the story with the entrance of mysterious Reid and charming young Caleb. All through the book I kept rooting for Reid, he played an integral yet elusive role as Aria’s neighbor. Aria manages to intrigue Reid but he keeps his thoughts very close to his chest and never reveal that he knows or that he sees everything. And for Aria there is something about Reid that strikes her imagination and seizes her teen hormones. Whereas, Caleb played a huge role in the story what with his father being who he is. Caleb on the other hand is pretty straight forward about his interest in Aria and he pursues her relentlessly. As Aria slowly starts to make a new life for herself in Grant City, she also makes a new friend in her employer, Rose.

Then Sam, because of her tragic past and because of the Fae skills that Aria possesses, comes up with a plan. She wants Aria to fight crime during her nights and keep the streets of Grant City safe. Sam manages to get her childhood best friend, Mark to tag long on their quest. At first things are easy, dangerous but exhilarating, the trio make a perfect team, each bringing a skillset into the mix. They manage to make quite a dent in the Black Magic market. But little do they know that the main man, Mr. Shy wasn’t a dummy. My heart about jumped out of my chest with what transpires. The true revelation of who Mr. Shy is and what he is all about almost made me throw my kindle. What Aria had to face, how she had to center herself. And the ending and the hurting. OH MY LORD.

The ending left me craving for more and some part of why Aria was banished comes to light. It made me angry and sad and I wanted to hug her and make her feel safe and accepted. If you haven’t read the The Halfling then don’t wait any more, go and 1-click this fastastical story about Fae and their kinds.

I love when a book exceeds my expectations!

The Halfling by H D Gordon is the first book in The Aria Fae Series, a paranormal fantasy that exceeded my expectations with fantastic writing and characters that grabbed hold of me and wouldn’t let go.

Aria knew she couldn’t run from her past, but here she is, in a new place. She is a skate board riding Fae, part of the Brokers, an organization of Halflings, half supernatural and half human. She is an empath and I cannot imagine how difficult that would be in high school. Her empathy and need to help gets her in trouble, but I love her for it. How can I resist a strong character who marches to her own drum?

She meets up with Sam, a girl hacker who becomes her BFF and it changes everything. I love the little nerd, Sam, who is your typical teenager…except for her supernatural skills. I love the connection that brought them together, but you will need to find out for yourself. The girls fun personalities and watching them grow and blossom as they create their family kept me on pins and needles as I kept waiting for the bad to happen. I know it has to come, but I love these kids so much I don’t want anything to happen to them.

Thomas Reid is a hottie and I think he is holding a secret that will add more to the suspense.

H D Gordon can take a familiar theme and twist it so creatively that it becomes fresh and original. Her descriptive writing makes the story seem real and I am unable to resist being drawn in deeper with each page I read. The Halfling has so much that I love, the paranormal, fantasy, determined women (albeit young ones) and so much more. As the story grows, so too does the suspense and mystery. I never saw where this was going and I love when a book exceeds my expectations. I can hardly wait to see what happens next.

Ok my favorite reads are the ones that have tough heroines. The ones that throw a few punches, fight their own battles. This book rocked so hard! I loved the two male potential's romances. The romance influences was well written. I bet Aria would be great with either of them. And let me the tell you the Best Friend Sam cracked me up. This book dealt with bullies and depression. It had kick but action scenes. So much to love about this book. If I got to pick a character to be out of the many books I've read I'd choose Aria. This book kept me up way into the next morning. Worth my book hangover. This is worth buying right now. ❤️

Nice start. Looking forward to seeing the series progress

I’m going to level with you, I requested to review this book for a couple reason. Firstly I liked the cover and the plot behind the book, who doesn’t love a bit of fantasy where people have powers. The second reason and also the main reason behind me wanting to review the book is I loved the story behind it.. I loved the fact Lauren came up with the idea and with the help of her father Peter has helped it come to fruition. I always love to see parents support their children.

I loved the story, the idea those with royal blood have elemental powers was a nice idea. I particularly liked the idea each kingdom had their own powers and these powers can be used in different ways or even combined.

The plot itself is pretty straight forward, Hawten sets out on his mission to get help for his kingdom and in the process is meets the teenage members of other royal households who join him. It was a fun read, although something like this wouldn’t happen in real life I did think the authors managed to get the rebellious and adventurous sides of teenagers across nicely.

I have to admit my favourite character was Ahmu and I loved he had his own section at the end of the tale where his journal entries were listed

The story is a coming of age tale based on fantasy, these young boys and girls are out to find themselves and learn about their powers as well as help Hawten.

My overall impression of the book is that it is well planned out and very interesting to read, the only two things that could be improved for me were the chapter length and the amount of detail thrown in the story.

Some of the chapters were around 50 – 60 minutes in length and I just felt this was a little too long for a YA book.

The flow of the story was good but at times you had a lot of information thrown at you to describe a place or a person. The information was great at helping you visualise but at the same time it did slow the flow of the story and I think the story would have worked just as well with a little info left out

All in all I really enjoyed the book it was fun to read with lots of potential. I’m very much interested in reading the second book to see how the story progresses

If you’re a fan of YA novels then add this to your TBR pile, I have a good feeling this series will only improve as it goes forward

Action packed adventure

This book is a well written action adventure story. The story will be of most interest to pre-teens and teens, as most of the main characters are teenagers. The authors have inserted into the story some interesting trivia information.

A Tale for the 1%

This fantasy novel, that debuts a new series, targets an older child / young teen audience though I wouldn't recommend it for either. The main characters are all magic-wielding 14-16 y.o. royals that overwhelming act privileged, spoiled and snotty if not psychopathic. Their world is not unlike the Holy Roman Empire, divided into a multitude of small kingdoms with a larger pecking order. Six of the kingdoms stand out for having historic royal families that wield elemental magic. [ie Kingdoms of Fire, Ice, Air, Water, Earth and Electricity.] One major miss is in the lack of exploring how the elemental kingdoms culturally differ from each other and the non-elemental kingdoms. Only the Ice Nation seems to truly have a unique view on the world.

Conveniently, each of the royal families has at least one 14 or 16 y.o. heir learning how to deal with their powers. With the exception of one prince from the Electricity Kingdom, none seem interested in dealing with responsibilities to their kingdoms and the people they administer over. They hardly seem to notice non-royals at all except to torment their servant cooks and soldiers. Royal life itself is depicted 2-dimensionally with Kings and Queens always decked out and wearing state jewels and crowns. Jewels and clothes likewise preoccupy the teens, along with being sarcastically sarcastic. [The term gets thrown around a lot.]

These young royals lose family members along the course of the tale. However, the emotional toll is barely scratched as most of the ill-adjusted teens seem not to retain empathy or even sadness beyond a few minutes. This in itself could be an interesting stance if I thought the character lapses and myopia were intentional.

What is clear, is the direction the series is taking since nothing gets resolved in the first book. Mainly, the teens find each other as the goal of this novel. The larger set-up that shows non-elemental people revolting against the elementals and wishing elemental magic gone remains to be resolved. This opposing POV, sympathetic to the rebel cause, is not given any depth. This tale is strictly for the 1%.
