Helping through the Separation.

My neighbor is a lady pilot who flies for the military. Her young son might have benefited greatly from a story such as "My Mother's Wings". The story is touching in that it gives the child left behind a heartfelt reminder that Mom will be back.

Great book for kids who miss their parent(s) who are deployed in the military. I love the help the mother gives her son to help him through these hard times. A very sweet book!

A Terrific Book to Help Children Deal with Separation from Parents on Military Deployment

For a child, there can be no greater sadness than separation from a parent. For a military brat whose mother is on deployment, the pain is still greater. This little story provides a simple recommendation to help mitigate that pain -- put your hand on your heart and know that you and your parent will never be far apart. The gift of a pair of wings to be clipped to a shirt serve as a reminder of that love. The wings are also an inspiration for the child to be strong and to help other children in military families where deployment of parents is a common occurrence. Thank you to the author for finding a simple way of helping children deal with the pain of separation from a parent.
